Huawei is one of the largest phone manufacturers in the whole world, and recently announced an extremely important decision that made many people happy, that surprised others, but that ultimately also raises many question marks. Huawei has announced that Harmony OS, its operating system for its own mobile phones, and not only, is to be distributed for a wide range of devices even starting this year.

Huawei released the first beta version of Harmony OS 2.0 for phones, and that also meant that the operating system was analyzed with extreme care to see what exactly is hidden inside its "inside". Well, it seems that Huawei made Harmony OS also based on the Android it wants to replace, but based on an open source version, which is devoid of Google's services and applications, changing the names of the operating system, and probably other functions.

Huawei he did nothing but take an older version of Android and modify it, those who analyzed Harmony OS 2.0 discovered that Android applications can be run, displaying error messages only when the version they are running on is too old. In the image above you have an application for Android 4.4.4 that displays the same error message on two Huawei phones, on the left the one with Android, on the right the one with Harmony OS, the alert window being identical.

Huawei using the Android framework for Harmony OS 2.0, and this was discovered after the system files were accessed using the ADB application for Android, the developers discovering Google's operating system files. Basically, Harmony OS is an Android modified by Huawei, that is, exactly what it does normally, only now it has chosen another name for itself, applying it including in the error messages, and not only that.

Huawei will offer Harmony OS as an Android with a different name, maybe to make the transition to its own operating system easier, or maybe because it can't do anything else right now, but it's clear that the different operating system we thought it would will launch, it doesn't really exist.
