Valeriu Gheorghita: The Moderna vaccine arrives in Romania in January

Valeriu Gheorghita, the president of CNCAV, announced that the vaccine produced by Moderna, and approved just yesterday by the European Union for use on its territory, will arrive in Romania in mid-January, and will be used in parallel with that of BionTech Pfizer .

Valeriu Gheorghita stated that the vaccines are the same, only that the method by which they can be stored differs, that of Moderna being easier to store and transport, so that the preservation will be easier for longer periods of time, which is very important.

"4,3% of the quantity belongs to Romania, which means approximately 3,5 million doses from the Moderna company. If another contract is approved, we could get double.

Right from January we expect them to arrive in Romania, right up until January 15th the first installment of doses could be delivered. This is good news, but the number of doses is incomparably lower than that of BioNTech Pfizer, given the production capacity and the type of contract concluded by the European Commission."
