DIGI Mobile has recently become the third largest telecommunications operator in Romania, announcing a slightly higher number of clients than Telekom, enough to be placed, theoretically, above it. The fight that DIGI Mobil has waged in recent years to substantially increase its customer base seems to be bearing fruit, and now the telecommunications operator can boast of 3.7 million subscribers for mobile telecommunications services.
DIGI Mobile January had a very good month in terms of porters, and this is because we are talking about 40.088 landline and mobile phone numbers that reached the telecommunications operator's network. The figure is almost double that of the porters that Telekom registered, and this shows us that DIGI Mobil should distance itself even more compared to its competitor in 2021 when it comes to the active customer base in all of Romania.
DIGI Mobil: IMPORTANT changes in Romania in 2021
DIGI Mobile has the lowest prices in Romania at the moment, lower than those of Telekom, even if it does not offer the same quality of services, the differences being small, but still noticeable. About the same is true when it comes to prices, the differences being also small, but Telekom has slightly higher prices, and many people from DIGI Mobil instead, which annually brings over 400.000 new numbers to the company's network.
DIGI Mobile it still has serious problems with the infrastructure that it needs to solve, the investments from 2020 to expand GSM coverage throughout the country failing to solve the situation with internet speeds. DIGI Mobil has the slowest internet speeds in Romania, significantly lower than those of the other operators, and as the 5G network is stagnant for now, it is unlikely that the experience enjoyed by customers will be substantially improved soon.
DIGI Mobile invests massively in its telecommunications network every year, but much more is needed to improve internet speeds, and in 2021 it is hard to say what could change.
