Raed Arafat explained today why the decision was made just a few hours ago for the entire city of Timisoara to enter quarantine, this being the first time that such a large city is targeted by a measure of this kind outside of the general spring quarantine the year 2020.
Raed Arafat says that in Timisoara the infection rate was over 7/1000 inhabitants and the imposition of this measure was needed because it would have continued to grow, and would have reached a level too high for the quarantine measure not to last very long a lot, even if 14 days may not be enough.
"Here it is primarily about the incidence, but not only, several factors are taken into account, including the impact on the health system, but also other aspects, in a score made by INSP. In Timișoara, the measure of quarantine had to be taken, because an incidence rate of almost 7,5 was reached and a continuous increase from one day to the next.
Here, if you don't measure them now, it will be taken later, but the quarantine will last longer, because it is more difficult to drop from 12 per thousand to below the national average or at least below 3 per thousand. The higher incidence we are, the harder it will be.”
