Romanian Police Many New Sanctions due to Non-Compliance with the Coronavirus Measures

The Romanian Police once again warns Romanians all over the country about the fact that it is present on the streets all over the country to ensure compliance with the conditions imposed to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus throughout Romania.

The Romanian Police gives thousands upon thousands of fines daily due to non-compliance with these measures, hundreds of thousands of LEI adding up every day to the total amount of the sanctions that are given, and unfortunately the pandemic continues to register increasing numbers in our country.

"In the last 24 hours, 3.275 calls were made to the single emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on March 14, 6.819 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 1.508.720 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 2 criminal files were drawn up yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.

The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures to verify the reported aspects."
