Telekom: How will customers be transferred to Orange in 2021

Telekom is preparing to transfer millions of customers to Orange in 2021, here is how the procedure will unfold in the coming months.

Telekom company

Telekom is preparing to transfer its customers from the fixed services division to Orange after reaching an agreement regarding its purchase in a transaction valued at hundreds of millions of euros. The transaction is to be completed in the fall of this year, the date of September 1 being set by the two companies for the exchange of clients to be completed, and of course it is a very bold date for the companies.

Telekom however, the division will not be directly taken over by those from Orange, and this is because all the customers will be transferred to a new company that will be created somewhere by August. All the customers of the fixed services division of Telekom will end up there, along with some of the mobile division that use converged services, and this new company will be taken over entirely by Orange at a given moment, for now not officially disclosed.

Telekom he will no longer have any control in the new company, which will have a shareholding made up of those from Orange and the Romanian state, the authorities also having a significant percentage of the fixed services division. The Romanian state had to give its heart so that the fixed services division of Telekom could be taken over, something that is quite normal in the end, but this made the acquisition of Orange difficult, and it could be a further problem.

Telekom wants to finish this transaction as soon as possible in order to be able to sell the fixed services division, but there are still a few months in which serious preparations must be made. For customers, this entire change should not bring anything in terms of noticeable changes, and this is because this is how Telekom and Orange wanted things to be, so that everything would be as simple as possible for customers from all over Romania, which is extremely good.

Telekom will remain in Romania with the mobile services division, but we are talking about a small number of clients who will continue to be active and benefit from all these services.
