Decision from the Romanian Government regarding Lot ABV2856 of AstraZeneca

Decision Romanian Government Lot ABV2856 AstraZeneca

The Romanian government officially announced today the decision it took, through the CNCAV, regarding the ABV2856 site of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, and the Romanian authorities will resume administering it to citizens who wish to be immunized.

The Romanian government took this decision after the European Medicines Agency decided that the vaccine is safe and can be administered, even though other countries in the European Union have decided to maintain the suspension of its use, and others have decided to resume its use.

"Following today's meeting, which was attended by the representatives of the National Committee for the Coordination of Activities on Vaccination against COVID-19 (CNCAV), the Ministry of Health (MOH), the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) and the National Medicines Agency and Medical Devices of Romania (ANMDMR), the decision was taken to cancel the maximum precautionary measure that involved the quarantine of the ABV2856 vaccine batch, produced by the pharmaceutical company Oxford/AstraZeneca.

Vaccination remains the safe and effective solution for defeating the COVID-19 pandemic, and the vaccines used in Romania are authorized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the most rigorous decision-making body, which brings together experts at the European level. We encourage monitoring and reporting of all adverse reactions by both vaccine recipients and healthcare professionals.

CNCAV ensures the population of complete transparency and full responsibility in the prompt communication of all information of interest, so that the vaccination process is carried out in a favorable and safe environment for all people who want to be immunized against COVID-19."
