Warning from the Romanian Police regarding Easter restrictions

Warning Romanian Police Easter Restrictions

The Romanian Police is warning Romanians from all over the country about the fact that, including during the Easter period, the preventive measures that were imposed to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in an uncontrolled way in Romania are being applied at the moment.

The Romanian Police explains below everything that all people who during this period leave their homes to meet their loved ones, or are on vacation, should know, as the authorities are present throughout the country to ensure compliance with the existing measures.

"In the period 30.04 - 03.05.2021, approximately 26.000 policemen, gendarmes, border policemen, firefighters and pilots of the Ministry of Interior will be prepared to intervene to maintain public order, prevent antisocial acts, support citizens in emergency situations and discourage activities or behaviors that may favor the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The MAI has mobilized additional forces on the routes that are usually crowded in such periods, but also in the localities where a large presence of people is expected, respectively in the tourist resorts on the coast or in the mountains and in the localities where there are resorts of worship that attract thousands of believers year after year.

In the area of over 12.300 Orthodox places of worship in the country, where over 1,7 million people are estimated to attend, public safety measures, as well as fire prevention and extinguishing measures, will be ensured by approximately 14.000 personnel of MAY.

Almost 10.000 police officers will act, on average, daily, in an integrated system, together with the Romanian Gendarmerie and other state institutions with attributions in ensuring public order and peace and compliance with public health measures.

In order to prevent road accidents and streamline traffic, there will be almost 1.600 traffic police on public roads. Their missions will be supported by the pilots of the General Aviation Inspectorate of the MAI, who will ensure aerial surveillance of road traffic on the most traveled routes in the country.

Police and Gendarmerie forces will be present in crowded areas during this period: malls, markets, areas organized for the sale of traditional products, as well as in mountain resorts.

On Saturday evening and Sunday, special attention will be paid to the safety of citizens in the area of places of worship, where the police and gendarmes will support and guide the faithful who will participate in the religious services. We recommend that the journey to the churches is done avoiding crowds.

Firefighters will also be on duty these days, ready to intervene to provide emergency medical assistance, to extinguish fires and rescue people from hostile environments. For all these missions, more than 5.000 firefighters will be mobilized daily.

Also, on the night of the Resurrection, several intervention crews will be operationalized and deployed to the churches and monasteries where a large number of people are expected.

In order to increase the safety of those who choose to spend this mini-vacation at the seaside, in the highly trafficked areas of Constanța county, starting tomorrow, 5 temporary work points will be operationalized in Mamaia, Agigea, Valea Dacilor, Techirghiol and Vama Veche .

Between April 30 and May 4, special attention will be paid to the efficiency of emergency response missions that may occur on the A2 highway and DN2. Thus, several fire crews from ISU Bucharest-Ilfov, ISU Buzău and ISU Călărași will be present on predetermined sections of these areas.

At the level of the Border Police, measures have been ordered to streamline traffic, at this moment, the capacity of the border crossing points being used to the maximum, within the limits of their configuration. Depending on the traffic, the control arteries will be supplemented on the direction of exit from the country or entry into the country, as appropriate. Also, if the situation requires it, mobile control stations will also be used.

During this period, at the level of the entire country, surveillance and control activities at the state border are ensured daily by approximately 4.200 border police officers.

We make it clear that starting from 30.04.2021, 23.00 (Romanian time), until Sunday, 02.05.2021, 23.00 (Romanian time), the movement of vehicles with a capacity greater than 7,5 tons is restricted on the territory of Hungary, as a result of celebrating Labor Day and Sunday. During the mentioned period, the traffic of passengers and cars through the border crossing points will be carried out under normal conditions. The Romanian and Hungarian border authorities will keep in constant contact, with a view to establishing common measures, so that border control can be carried out promptly.

To prevent illness with the new coronavirus, we recommend that citizens observe the rules of physical distancing and avoid crowded places or the formation of pedestrian groups larger than six people if they are not part of the same family.

MAI employees, together with local police officers and representatives of other institutions, will carry out specific activities in shopping centers, markets, public transport and on terraces, with the aim of verifying whether the health protection measures taken by the authorities and other legal provisions are being respected .

We remind you that the protective mask is mandatory and must be worn so as to cover the nose and mouth in all public spaces, external and internal, therefore also in places of worship and adjacent areas.

The other health protection rules in force in each locality must also be respected, depending on the rate of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

As for restaurants and cafes, their activity is allowed depending on the infection rate in the area where they are located. We note that the restaurants and cafes inside the accommodation units are open only to the people staying in these units, but also taking into account the infection rate in the respective locality.

On the night of the Resurrection, the movement of the faithful is allowed in all localities between the hours of 20.00:05.00 and XNUMX:XNUMX to participate in religious services. The MAI forces will have an active presence in the streets during this period, throughout the country, the main concern being the prevention of incidents and antisocial behavior, and not the sanctioning of citizens.

The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs wishes all Romanians good health and a peaceful Easter!"
