ING Bank: Official Last Minute Change for Customers

ING Bank is transparent

ING Bank made a last-minute change for all its clients in Romania without saying much about it in advance, but some of them have already started to feel its effects. More precisely, as part of the new regulations imposed by the European authorities for the banks in the European Union, those from ING Bank have the obligation to notify the clients regarding the commissions charged for the currency exchanges made within the online transactions.

ING Bank made the change just a few days ago, when it was also imposed on other banks, in the case of BRD, so we are not talking about a decision that only affects this bank. Starting from the past few days, the people from ING Bank send emails to clients and inform them about the commissions that are charged in the case of online transactions made in foreign currency, whether it is about currency exchanges, whether it is about online payments made in another currency.

ING Bank: Official Last Minute Change for Customers

ING Bank presents its commissions in relation to the reference rates that the European Central Bank has, and of course they are higher, this aspect being expected, after all. The transparency that is imposed on banks comes as a very good measure for customers who want to know what kind of commissions banks like ING Bank charge, they are of the order of 0.xx of the transaction value, but of course they differ from one bank to another, and probably from one value to another.

ING Bank does not send SMS with this information, as BRD does, and maybe other banks, so we are only talking about emails that contain information about the transaction. ING Bank says that anyone who does not want to receive this information from the bank can call the customer relations phone number and request that these notifications be deactivated for their account, so there is no option in Home'Bank to do this thing.

In the notification emails, ING Bank provides details about the rationale behind these notifications, but in theory you should also find information about the change on its website.
