Android: Important Alert Issued to Millions of Phones

Android configuration

Android is at the center of a very important alert that has been issued for tens of millions of phones around the world, and this is because we are talking about an extremely serious problem that affects many people. More specifically, it seems that somewhere around 100 million users around the world have had their data exposed by popular Android apps due to the wrong way some of their functions were configured.

Android offers a variety of functions for all users who use the operating system in phones, but it seems that some popular applications may have had cloud-based systems configured incorrectly. Because of these wrong configurations, those applications would have revealed the data of almost 100 million phone users, which is an extremely serious problem for many people who relied on the functionalities offered by them.

Android: Important Alert Issued to Millions of Phones

Android offers methods by which people's data can be protected, even when they are transferred by some applications from users' phones to cloud-type systems, but in the case of 23 popular applications, this did not happen. The misconfiguration of those applications to not properly verify the authentication between the Android phone and the cloud servers to which the data was sent led to the disclosure of the data of nearly 100 million people.

Android doesn't normally have problems like this if the applications are done well, but in this situation the emails, images, private conversations, names, locations, and others, were revealed by these applications. Of course, everything happened without the users knowing what the situation was, and of course the application developers stated that they will try to solve the problems, but no one knows clearly how long it will take for this to happen.

Android still remains an operating system that is safe until the moment users start giving inappropriate permissions to applications, or install them from unknown stores.
