Valeriu Gheorghita: Announcement regarding the Third Dose of the Vaccine Against the Coronavirus

Valeriu Gheorghita was recently officially asked if a third dose of the vaccine against the Coronavirus will be necessary to protect people, and the CNCAV coordinator answered that for now there is no consensus on its necessity.

Valeriu Gheorghita has repeatedly said until now that it is not yet very clear whether a third dose of the vaccine against the Coronavirus will be needed so that people are better protected, and until then it remains to be seen what will happen.

"Of course, it is an open discussion. Again, the administration of the third dose is conditioned by two elements: on the one hand, the duration of the protection provided by the first scheme, after the two doses, to which we still do not have an answer, and also if the circulation increases with certain viral variants that are not sufficiently well covered by vaccines.

Fortunately, this scenario is less likely, at least at this point, when the vaccines are all effective against the four viral variants of concern, but from what is estimated, it is very likely that for at least 12 months we will have some level of protection given after the first vaccination schedule. If a third dose is imposed, surely people will benefit from the third dose. But there is no consensus at this point, due to lack of data. Thank you!"
