Valeriu Gheorghita: The BIG problem of Wave 4 for Romania

Valeriu Gheorghita talks about a very big problem that exists in the case of Romania before the 4th wave of the Coronavirus hits our country, something that will happen without discussion, the daily number of cases already starting to increase in our country.

Valeriu Gheorghita says that the Delta variant infects many young people in Europe because they are not vaccinated and travel a lot, or meet in large groups, in Romania the problem is the same, the vaccination rate among them being extremely low, unfortunately.

"This explanation of the increase in the number of cases at European level, indeed, an increase of 64,3% compared to week 27, is explained, on the one hand, by the abandonment of some of the non-pharmaceutical measures to limit the spread of cases and, on the other hand, by the lower percentages of vaccination among the young population, compared to the vulnerable population and the elderly population.

Obviously, young people get vaccinated, but if we also look at Great Britain, the percentage of those under 20, under 30 who are vaccinated is much lower, compared to people over 80, where more than 90% are vaccinated.

So, basically, what explains this increase in the number of infections among young people is, on the one hand, the fact that there is a greater potential for agglomerations in a larger number of people, of participation in events with a large number of people, where compliance with preventive measures is no longer required due to the fact that most of the restrictions have been lifted and, obviously, the fact that the percentage of those vaccinated is low explains, on the one hand, the increase in cases, but, let's not forget that another equally important or perhaps the most important explanation is related to the extension and propagation of the Delta virus variant, which is much more contagious, spreads much more easily and, as such, explains the important increases in the number of cases in countries such as Spain , Portugal, Greece, Cyprus."
