Planet Venus: Mankind Surprised with the Amazing New Image

Planet Venus return

The planet Venus has a new amazing image published by scientists, it was recorded less than a day ago by one of the two ships that fly over the planet now. We are talking about two distinct missions whose space probes met near the planet Venus for the first time and which record together for the first time images including the dark side of the planet, which usually does not get much attention.

The planet Venus has not been in the center of attention for some time, but this image comes as a "breath of air" for scientists, especially since some time has passed since new images were recorded. According to those from ESA, which together with JAXA guides the BepiColombo space probe, which recorded this image, the photo was taken at an altitude of approximately 1600 kilometers, it was recorded in black and white format at a resolution of 1024×1024 pixels.

Planet Venus return flyby

The planet Venus will be flown by the BepiColombo spacecraft at an altitude halved compared to now, so it is expected that new impressive images will be recorded for humanity. The SolarOrbiter spacecraft, which will also pass by the planet Venus, will not descend below an altitude of approximately 8000 km, so its images will not show the planet in such a high level of detail.

"The joint European-Japanese BepiColombo mission captured this view of Venus on August 10, 2021, when the spacecraft passed by the planet for a gravity assist maneuver. The image was taken at 13:57:56 UTC by Monitoring Camera 3 of the Mercury Transfer Module when the spacecraft was 1573 km from Venus. The closest approach of 552 km occurred shortly before at 13:51:54 UTC.”

The planet Venus is not directly targeted by either of these two space probes, both using its gravitational power to increase its speed of travel through the universe and reach Mercury, or closer to the sun. Although none of these two missions will get close to the planet Venus, others are still being prepared to be sent to the cosmic body, but for now no one knows when they could get there.

The planet Venus is the closest to Earth, but even so, it cannot be explored in detail by scientists due to the fact that its surface is extremely unfriendly.
