Until now, the Milky Way has had planetary systems discovered at a minimum of 3200 light years from the sun, in areas other than the central disk of the galaxy, but scientists say that even there there would be areas with such cosmic bodies. Analysis of that area of the Milky Way has been very difficult because of the distance from Earth and our position in relation to it, but scientists are using a new special technique to see what is happening there.
"In this sense, gravitational microlensing is a unique technique because it is sensitive to planetary systems over a wide range of distances in our galaxy, from the galactic disc to the galactic bulge. Microlensing is currently the only technique capable of investigating the galactic distribution of planets. However, no study measuring distribution has yet been reported, mainly because of the difficulty in measuring distance. Our discovery that planets reside in both stellar environments could lead to a better understanding of how planets form and the history of planet formation in the Milky Way. path"
The Milky Way could have many planetary systems in its center, and scientists use this new method to record new images from that area.
