Heterologous Coronavirus VaccinationHeterologous Coronavirus Vaccination

The Romanian authorities explain below what heterologous vaccination against the Coronavirus means, that is, the use of a different serum than the one used for the first dose, and the conditions under which this process is allowed are explained below.

"Conditions for heterologous vaccination:
vaccination with a different type of vaccine is allowed, compared to the one administered at the first dose, when there is a medical recommendation attested by a medical document (discharge card, medical letter, medical certificate) and assumed by a doctor with the right to leave practice;
in this case, a copy will be kept in the vaccination center after the medical recommendation, attached to the medical triage form and the patient will sign the informed consent.
Special situations in which it is necessary to administer another type of vaccine manufactured according to a different technology:
For Pfizer BioNTech's Comirnaty and Moderna's Spikevax vaccines
• Anaphylactic shock;
• Myocarditis/pericarditis.
For the Vaxzevria vaccine (AstraZeneca)
• Anaphylactic shock;
• Thrombosis syndrome with thrombocytopenia (SST);
• Capillary extravasation syndrome.
Vaccination remains the best solution for protection against COVID-19!
By vaccination against COVID-19:
- the risk of infection is reduced;
- the risk of virus transmission is reduced;
– the risk of hospitalization is considerably reduced;
– the risk of death is considerably reduced;
- the risk of the emergence of new variants of the SARS CoV-2 virus is reduced."
