Valeriu Gheorghita: Wave 4, Warning of Huge Danger

Valeriu Gheorghita issues an extremely serious warning in the midst of wave 4 of Corona virus infections, and this is because he is trying to convince Romanians all over the country that they should protect themselves in order to prevent the mass spread of the Delta variant.

Valeriu Gheorghita says that the Delta variant of the Coronavirus has a basal reproduction rate of cases that is incredibly high compared to the Alfa variant, so vaccination and compliance with protective measures are necessary to keep Romanians safe.

"Also, if we look at the fact that the Delta variant, at the moment, is dominant, compared to the Alfa variant, when the basal case reproduction rate was about 2 compared to the basal case reproduction rate of the Delta variant, of 5 on average, I can tell you that after 8 repetitive cycles of transmission from one case with the Alpha variant, in about two months, there are 256 new cases of the disease, unlike the Delta variant, in the same time frame , from one positive case you can reach more than 390 thousand infected people, which means more than 1.500 times more infected people in the same period of time, for the simple reason that the Delta variant is highly transmissible, it is much more contagious and, in an unvaccinated population, where preventive measures are not respected, it spreads extremely easily.

I repeat, the transmission of the Delta variant is similar to high levels of spread of communicable diseases of childhood: measles, chicken pox, etc. It spreads very easily, which is precisely why, at the moment, it is very important to respect the other preventive measures non-pharmaceuticals, especially in overcrowded areas, even if they are in outdoor spaces, then where there is a high risk of exposure, and even more so in closed spaces.

There is also a tendency at the moment to decrease the age of people who develop severe forms, even those who die, unfortunately, the median age recorded is about 68 years, compared to 71 years, and the percentage of those who die from the disease of COVID-19 without comorbidities is slightly increasing. So there is this signal that the Delta variant could also generate forms with a virulence, with a greater aggressiveness."
