LUNA: HISTORICAL Premiere Officially Announced to All Mankind

The MOON has a historic premiere officially announced for all of humanity, and here we are talking about something that was no longer thought possible by too many people, but something that will eventually be carried out, apparently. More precisely, those from NASA have officially announced the mission that will take an exploration space robot named VIPER to the south pole of the moon, this being the first time that region is explored.

The MOON has had many regions on its surface explored, but those from NASA are going for the first time to the Noble Crater in the area of the south pole of the Earth's natural satellite to discover the water reservoirs that would be there. The south pole that the moon has is one of the regions in the solar system with the lowest temperatures, but NASA hopes that it could find water there that could offer the chance to use it for missions in the future.

LUNA: HISTORICAL Premiere Officially Announced to All Mankind

The MOON will be explored by the VIPER robot starting in 2023, a SpaceX rocket will be used to transport the robot to the respective region of the Earth's natural satellite to analyze it closely. NASA hopes to find there, either on the surface or underground, water reserves that can be used by the astronauts who will reach the moon in the coming years to explore it and make a lunar base.

"Once on the lunar surface, VIPER will provide ground-truth measurements for the presence of water and other resources at the Moon's South Pole, and the areas around Nobile crater have shown the most promise in this scientific pursuit. The data returned by VIPER will provide lunar scientists around the world with further insight into the cosmic origin, evolution and history of our Moon, and will also help inform future Artemis missions to the Moon and beyond, allowing us to better understand the lunar environment in these previously unexplored areas hundreds of thousands of miles away.”

The MOON has that area explored by NASA because it is almost permanently covered in shadow, so without sunlight the ice formed there has no way to melt, so there are chances that the water can be used somehow. NASA hopes to find there other explanations for the mysteries that the moon still has, but of course a lot depends on the ability of scientists to complete their mission.

After 2024, the MOON will be visited again by human crews of astronauts who will seek to restart a long process that will eventually lead us to the colonization of the moon for future missions in the solar system.
