Coronavirus Romania New Number of Infections from September 23, 2021

The large number of infections generated by the Coronavirus continues to be reported in Romania, so that on September 23 we see a new extremely high figure, and we are heading towards 10.000 daily cases this month, probably double next week.

In hospitals, admissions continue in large numbers during this period, unfortunately, and here we are talking about both normal and intensive care wards, yesterday being reported, unfortunately, over 130 deaths in our country by the authorities.

The vaccination campaign seems to register an increase in the number of immunizations, over 15.000 vaccinations were given yesterday, but also in the previous days there were over 10.000, so it is possible that the interest in immunization will increase.

"Until today, September 23, 1.172.981 cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) were registered on the territory of Romania, of which 378 are of re-infected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection.

1.090.380 patients were declared cured.

In the last 24 hours, 7.095 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, of which 126 are of reinfected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection .

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

**As for cases from abroad, these are cases of citizens who came to Romania having been infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total of new cases not allocated by county.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 652 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 35.964 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

In the interval 22.09.2021 (10:00) - 23.09.2021 (10:00) 113 deaths (58 men and 55 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Alba, Arad, were reported by the INSP , Bacău, Bihor, Bistrita-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brașov, Buzău, Caraș-Severin, Calarasi, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Giurgiu, Gorj, Ilfov, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vrancea and the City of Bucharest.

One of the deaths is of a patient infected abroad and reported by DSP Călărași.

Among the 113 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category 20-29 years, 4 in the age category 30-39 years, 6 in the age category 40-49 years, 14 in the age category 50-59 years, 20 in age category 60-69 years, 35 in the age category 70-79 years and 33 in the age category over 80 years.

106 of the recorded deaths are of patients who presented comorbidities, 6 deceased patients did not present comorbidities, and for 1 deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported to date.

No deaths prior to the reference interval were reported.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 9.078. Of these, 1.067 are hospitalized at ATI.

Out of the total of hospitalized patients, 244 are minors, 228 being hospitalized in wards and 16 in ATI.

Until this date, at the national level, 9.463.782 RT-PCR tests and 2.983.812 rapid antigen tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 21.764 RT-PCR tests (10.872 based on case definition and medical protocol and 10.982 on request) and 31.953 rapid antigen tests were performed.

On the territory of Romania, 39.795 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 8.106 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 58.945 people are in home quarantine, and 231 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

 

In the last 24 hours, 5.109 calls were made to the single emergency number 112 and 671 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on September 22, 1.229 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 200.100 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, a criminal file was drawn up yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.
