Coronavirus: How Many Lives Vaccines Save

Coronavirus How Many Lives Are Vaccines Saving?

Great Britain was one of the countries most seriously affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, the Delta and Alpha variants generating numerous cases in the country, even with a large number of immunized people, but even so, the vaccines saved a lot of lives over time.

"Public Health England estimates that in the UK vaccination against COVID-19 has prevented:
127.500 deaths;
265.000 hospitalizations;
24.144.000 cases of infection.
In the latest published COVID-19 vaccination surveillance report for week 39, Public Health England estimates that 127.500 (between 123.600 and 131.300) deaths, more than 265.000 hospitalizations and 24.144.000 (between 23.932.000 and 24.310.000) cases of infection have been prevented as a result of the administration of vaccines against COVID-19 in the UK.
The models used assume that in the no-vaccination scenario no other interventions are implemented to reduce incidence and mortality.
In a real scenario, the very high number of infections, hospitalizations and deaths, which would have led to the collapse of the health system, would have led to the implementation of additional non-pharmaceutical intervention measures. Similarly, people's behavior may have changed in response to the increase in cases and deaths.
We note that of the eligible UK population: 89.8% are vaccinated with at least one dose, and 82.5% are vaccinated with the full schedule.”
