Valeriu Gheorghita: Categorical Message to Millions of Romanians

Valeriu Gheorghita sends an extremely important message for all Romanians in the country in the midst of wave 4 of Corona virus infections, the current situation in the whole country making the president of CNCAV recommend to Romanians not to ignore the vaccination against the influenza virus, together with the one against COVID -19.

Valeriu Gheorghita says that both vaccines can be given at the same time and that the protection offered by one does not have an effect against the other virus, so Romanians must think seriously not to ignore vaccination against both extremely dangerous viruses.

"Also, because the flu season is approaching, it is important to note that the vaccination against COVID-19 can be carried out simultaneously with the other types of vaccines that are included in the national vaccination program or, in the case of vaccinations for population groups at risk, such as flu vaccination, so that those who want to get vaccinated against flu can benefit, for example, from the family doctor, and from the COVID-19 vaccination, because they can be done simultaneously or at any other time interval compared to the dose of the COVID-19 vaccine XNUMX or vice versa. So there are no limitations from this point of view and they are very clear recommendations of the US Center for Disease Control.

The immune response is not cross-linked. The immune response after vaccination against COVID 19 does not protect us against a flu infection. Instead, we are protected by observing the other measures - mask, distancing, avoiding overcrowded areas - things that were also seen at the beginning of the pandemic, when we were in epidemic flu season.

After the implementation of prevention measures, two diseases in which we were in full epidemic, measles and seasonal flu, decreased.

Vulnerable people, people at risk must also benefit from flu vaccination and from the data we have, about 2 million doses of flu vaccine are being purchased, which will be distributed especially in family medicine offices.

We would like our colleagues in the family medicine network who vaccinate against flu but do not vaccinate against COVID to do so, also request the vaccine against COVID-19, because they can be given simultaneously, regardless of the dose range of who speak for the COVID-19 vaccination."
