ANPC 11 Fined Online Stores BLACK FRIDAY False Discounts

ANPC announced just a few hours ago that it formed a special BLACK FRIDAY command to check if the discounts offered in online stores in Romania are real, and 11 of those checked were sanctioned, with details below.

"The Special Black Friday Command fined 275.000 lei to 11 economic operators, who presented special promotions on their websites!

On the first day of activity, the Special Black Friday Command checked 11 large economic operators promoting special discounts during this period.

The volume of contravention fines applied to all controlled operators amounted to 275.000 lei and the following were found:

  • reduced price sales were carried out, in the conditions where the reference price displayed on the website was not the lowest price applied in the last 30 days, through the incorrect way of calculating the reduced price, creating the premise of the existence of a specific price advantage, consumers being cause them to make a trading decision that they would not have made had they known the reality;
  • the lack of indication, on the company's website, clearly and unequivocally of the date on which the offer ends or whether the offer refers to the available stock of goods.

The 11 verified operators are:

  1. Altex Romania SRL
  2. Flanco Retail SA
  3. FineStore Distribution SRL
  4. Vivre Deco SA
  5. Studio Moderna SRL (top shop)
  6. Arsis Trading SRL
  7. Lc Waikiki Retail Ro SRL
  8. Elephant SRL
  9. Premium Store SRL
  10. Pc Garage SRL
  11. Evolution Prest Systems SRL (evomag)

To these sanctions were added 10 decisions to stop the unfair commercial practice, only the mediagalaxy site correcting the violations on the spot.

The Black Friday Special Command continues its checks in the next period as well.

ANPC has made available to consumers from all over the country a dedicated e-mail address, bf@anpc.ro, to which it invites all citizens who notice any irregularity related to the promotions of this period to write, send photos or any document they consider that it can be of use to us in our endeavor, in their service.
