Valeriu Gheorghita: Farm Warning Before the Start of Wave 5

Valeriu Gheorghita sends an extremely serious warning to Romanians all over the country before the 5th wave begins in Romania, and this is because our country does not need a new very difficult period like the one we just went through in the 4th wave.

Valeriu Gheorghita tells the Romanians that they must look carefully at what is happening in other countries, and that we must learn from them that we must protect ourselves, vaccinate ourselves, and that way we can hope that we will pass through wave 5 with a a much better situation than the one recorded two weeks ago.

"From what we observe at the moment, in the rest of the European countries, in at least 20 European countries, there is currently an increase in the number of reported cases.

Indeed, this increase in the number of cases is also followed by an increase in the number of hospitalizations and deaths where the vaccination rate is low and respectively by a decoupling of the number of serious cases of hospitalizations and deaths in countries where the vaccination rate is raised.

That means somewhere over 80-85%, being considered a sufficient threshold to limit the impact that the Delta variant has at the population level. From this point of view, we also expect an increase in the number of cases to occur probably from the second part of January, this wave 5, if we can call it that, and that is precisely why I think our vigilance must remain raised.

Let's not let our guard down, let's try to respect as best we can in the future the measures to prevent the spread of the disease, because only in this way, by limiting circulation, we can reduce the pressure on hospitals at this moment and we see that, fortunately, the evolution is favorable. We want to maintain this evolutionary trend.

The fact that the positive test rate today is 5%, the lowest it has been in the last two months, is a very good thing and shows, indeed, an important drop in the number of cases.

These measures are, without exception, vaccination, as a measure that limits the risk of getting a serious form, getting to the hospital and reducing the number of deaths, to prevent those avoidable deaths, and also another important measure is compliance with sanitary measures and, last but not least, bring back to attention the importance of implementing the digital green certificate."
