Valeriu Gheorghita: Disclosure for Millions of Romanians regarding the COVID Pandemic

Valeriu Gheorghita made an important revelation for millions of Romanians regarding the COVID pandemic that blocked the world, the military doctor who coordinates the vaccination campaign saying that the year 2021 was difficult for all those who tried to turn it into a success.

Valeriu Gheorghita also says that his expectations vis-à-vis the role he will have and the way things will unfold were much different from reality, and this is because of the obstacles encountered in trying to convince the Romanians to vaccinate and protect themselves.

"Almost a year later, we too are starting to feel the fatigue and all the effort we put in together with my colleagues. Of course it was a difficult year for everyone, for society and for those who were involved in the management of the pandemic, I hope that this end of the year will be a quieter one and that we can recharge our batteries.

As the data show, it is very likely that in the first part of next year we will register a new increase in cases. The Omicron variant begins to circulate more and more intensively, there are countries such as Great Britain, Denmark, the United States, where the variant is already becoming dominant.

In the United States, over 70% of the sequencers are of the Omicron variant. In all overcrowded areas where there is population density and increased interaction between people, this Omicron version is at home, and it is easily transmitted between people.

There are some differences, obviously, because I, being a person of good faith, started from the idea that when you organize things in a coherent manner, when you give people the opportunity to get vaccinated, when you communicate on this topic, honestly, transparently, together with a team of people involved, first of all those who want to get vaccinated can do so, and we wanted to protect people's health.

Things were certainly not always like this, and there were very complicated situations during this period, we obviously faced, and naturally in the end, both accusations and criticism. It was much more complicated than I thought, because I was a doctor who worked all my life in the hospital and I did not face situations like this."
