Valeriu Gheorghita: The New Last Moment Announcement in Full Wave 5 of Infections

Valeriu Gheorghita speaks to Romanians from all over the country to whom he sends an extremely important message at the beginning of wave 5 in Romania with many infections, saying that until now the booster dose, extremely important in front of the Omicron variant, has not was made by even so many Romanians.

Valeriu Gheorghita talks about its importance, but also the fact that Romania has a large vaccination capacity at the moment, it can reach up to 150.000 daily immunizations, but of course there is a need for people willing to be immunized by the authorities.

"If we look at those who received the booster dose, almost half of them are people considered vulnerable, i.e. people over 65 years old or people with chronic conditions, the rest being people from the medical sector, the social sector or the other sectors considered essential , critical as well as the general population that is eligible for vaccination.

I want to make one more clarification here; related to the indication and recommendation for the administration of the booster dose, in Romania, all people aged at least 12 years can be vaccinated with the booster dose, not only people over 18 years old. Up to this moment, among people aged between 12 and 15 years old, about 945 people have received the booster dose, and among those aged 16-17 years - about 5.858 people have also received the booster dose.

At the level of family doctors, family medicine offices, there are about 3.155 offices that have vaccination activity, they represent about 30% of the total number of family doctors who are in a contractual relationship with health insurance companies and have been vaccinated over one million people, which represents approximately 12,5% of the total number of vaccinated people in Romania.

It should be mentioned, because I have seen some erroneous information in the public space, that people between the ages of 5 and 11 can also be vaccinated in family medicine offices, when the family doctor will obviously request pediatric doses for this group of age: at this moment we have sufficient vaccination capacity.

Practically, we can administer daily more than 100.000 doses of vaccine only in the fixed centers and we remember the fact that in October, when the vaccination rate increased a lot, we were able to, without having any blockages."
