Minister of Health: Official Announcement regarding COVID-19 for Millions of Romanians

The Minister of Health made an official announcement regarding COVID-19 for millions of Romanians from all over the country, and this is because the government official is sending people extremely important information in the context in which it is starting to be recommended to take more doses of the vaccine.

The Minister of Health says that it is most likely recommended not to take multiple doses at short intervals in order to avoid overstimulation of the immune system, but also that in the future the anti-COVID vaccination once a year, as in the case of the flu, could be the best solution.

"We are not talking about overloading, probably the dance referred to an overstimulation if we administer doses of the same vaccine at shorter and shorter doses, and I think he is right, because he did not refer to the 3rd booster dose, but to a potential dose 4, it was discussed in some states, some recommended it including for people with immunological deficiencies.

Obviously, a vaccine that demonstrates at the moment that it only prevents transmissibility to a small extent, it is true that it prevents serious forms and death, it must be adapted to the new circulating strains, and we see this also with the flu every year, a vaccine that we do it only once a year, and this will probably happen with the anti-covid vaccine as well.

You see that there are mutant strains that escape the immune response of the vaccine that was developed for the initial version. We must take measures (ed. to reduce Omicron transmission), and the use of the mask is one of them, because it is a mechanical barrier that reduces the transmission of the virus to a good extent.

The protection of the elderly must be done because it, after all, is ensured on the one hand by vaccination, and on the other hand by contact with them, which must be cautious, i.e. the use of a protective mask, or testing, when you you meet an unvaccinated elderly person, and these are measures that ultimately reduce transmission and mortality.

We see this every day, 9 out of 10 people who have a serious form, or die, of the disease are unvaccinated people, so it is one thing to discuss the booster doses, and another thing is to discuss the initial vaccination that provides a certain degree of protection against disease."
