Raed Arafat: The Worrying Announcement regarding Wave 5, Romanians Alerted

Raed Arafat spoke today about the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania, and presented a series of important information regarding the situation in our country, the news not being exactly that good, and this because the situation is becoming more serious for everyone.

Raed Arafat also talks below about the areas where the situation is the most serious, with many localities where the incidence rate of 3/1000 inhabitants has already been exceeded, but their number will increase substantially in the next period, but it remains to be seen how of restrictions could still be imposed.

"I will present some data about the evolution of the past week and emphasize the fact that was also seen from the data I presented earlier today and from what Dr. Gheorghiță said - that vaccination remains the solution to avoid the disease serious, admission to the ATI ward, hospital admission and, above all, death.

And we saw that, unfortunately, of the young people who died in the last 24 hours, none were vaccinated; and the percentage of those who die among those who are at ATI is in the great majority, unfortunately, unvaccinated people, which could probably be prevented if they were vaccinated. Let's see the data from the last seven days.

So, on January 13 we had 9.785 cases, on January 20 we have 19.105 cases, so the doubling trend is maintained and we will see, by monitoring, what the situation will be in the following days. In intensive therapy, however, the growth is slower and here it also comes from the fact that the Omicron variant is less pathogenic, less causes serious illnesses; however, from 441 cases that were on January 13th, today we are at 547, so an increase of over 100 cases in a week.

The daily number of deaths varies: on the 13th we had 36, on the 20th – a total of 43, including those that were older, and as a percentage of the total number of tests, we are continuously increasing; today we had a positive rate of 24,20% of all tests, so 24,20% of those tested turned out to be positive. As localities, on January 12 we had 887 localities between 1 and 3 per thousand, on January 19 they reached 1.193 localities between 1 and 3 per thousand, and on January 12 we had 248 localities over 3 per thousand, and on January 19 we reached 798 localities over 3 per thousand.

Regarding the evolution of the incidence in localities over 3 per thousand, by county, all counties register new localities that have passed 3 per thousand, and I give examples: in Alba, from 6, we reached 16, 6 being on January 13, in January 19 – 16; Arad - from 11 to 24, Brașov - from 9 to 23, Cluj - from 25 to 49, Dâmbovița - from 4 to 15, Sălaj - from 7 to 22, Satu Mare - from 11 to 31, Suceava - from 40 to 76 localities, Timiș - from 20 to 44 localities that have passed from 3 to a thousand."
