Minister of Education: Last Minute Decision, Schools Targeted by New Changes

The Minister of Education's Last Minute Decision Targeted Schools New Changes

The Minister of Education has officially announced a decision that will bring as soon as possible a series of important new changes for schools all over Romania, and this is because he wants to implement training tests to help children and young people develop.

The Minister of Education talks about the fact that these practice tests can be of great help to students in preparing for the important national tests, but also for the usual ones of the evaluation process, and they will be implemented in schools in the next period.

"It is not normal to ask children to allow themselves to meditate. It is the duty of the school, there are theories of some education experts that these tests (training ed.) accustom the children to answer the tests, and not to focus on the actual content that generates competences. I am a fan of training tests, of as many evaluations as possible.

These tests, evaluations, of any kind, help the students, and motivate them to prepare in order to have the best possible result. Yes, they will be, and they will be as soon as possible, very soon they will be.

It is a chronic problem of education in Romania in which the evaluation suffered from the lack of standardization, and this online has intervened in which you no longer have any kind of guarantee regarding the one who answers. No one can have a golden globe, but I can say that if in 2020 we had 123.000 students with a grade above 8.50, in 2021 we had 754.000.

This increase, from a statistical point of view, shows us that there are problems. I also encountered situations where out of 35 students in a class, no less than 33 students had an average of 10. According to my knowledge of statistics, it is totally wrong. You cannot have such a distribution in a class. We are talking about 33 grade 10 averages for an entire year.

First of all, it is because of the fact that when a teacher evaluates, when there is no obligation for the student to answer with the room open, once again I tell you that the answerer can be anyone. When the system invites you to break the rules, you cannot condemn either the student or even the teacher. Some of the parents also pressured for high grades."
