Valeriu Gheorghita says that based on the very large number of doses administered so far, a safety profile is already known for the existing vaccines, so he still strongly recommends vaccinations, including for children aged 5-11 years.
"We must understand that at this moment we are more than a year away from the start of the vaccination campaigns, and more than half of the Earth's population has received at least one dose of vaccine, billions of doses have been administered, and we know almost everything from the point of view of the safety of the vaccine, and the efficiency data, which change depending on the circulating viral variant.
Including for children, at least according to the US data, at the moment more than 25% of eligible children aged 5-11 have received at least one dose of vaccine. We are talking here about 8 million children who received at least one dose of the vaccine, and the safety data are very good, because people are concerned about the risk of myocarditis.
In this age group, as I said, it means 2 cases per 1 million doses administered. The information regarding the risk of infertility was distributed over time, which turned out to be false, which is repeatedly brought into the public space when talking about new vaccines, the information was dismantled, it is false, misleading.
The Pfizer vaccine is used in Romania, it is a pediatric one, basically the dose is 10 mg, one third of the dose for children over 12 years old. We must understand that the vaccination scheme also consists of two doses administered every 3 weeks, but the presence of parents or legal representatives is required for the medical triage.
