Coronavirus Romania: New Number of New Cases on February 28, 2022

Coronavirus Romania New Number of New Cases February 28, 2022

The coronavirus has not disappeared from the concerns of the authorities in Romania, who during this period are still very careful and vigilant about the situation taking place in our country, especially since there are still large numbers of new cases reported every day based on the PCR tests carried out in our country in medical centers, and not only that.

The coronavirus is still bringing enough Romanians to hospitals all over the country during this period, especially in intensive care units, and the lifting of restrictions in our country depends on the number of Romanians hospitalized in these units, another extremely important element being the number of deaths, which still remains high.

As for the vaccination campaign, it seems to have stopped near the top, so it is expected that the strategy regarding it will be changed to allow immunization including family doctors, something that would be beneficial for the vaccination of as many people as possible during this period when the pandemic continues.

"In the last 24 hours, 4.757 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, 510 more than the previous day. 633 of the new cases in 24 hours are of reinfected patients who tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

**As for cases from abroad, these are cases of citizens who came to Romania having been infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total of new cases not allocated by county.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Below you have the graph made based on the reports received by the CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:
