The Minister of Defense officially announced an extremely important decision that was taken for all of Romania, one that will have a serious impact on our country, and this is because there is talk of the revitalization of Romania's defense industry in the not too distant future.
The Minister of Defense explains below why Romania needs the restart of the defense industry as soon as possible, something that of course many people could anticipate anyway, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine which represents a serious danger for our country.
"Solutions for the revitalization of the defense industry in Romania. I met today, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, with the Minister of Economy, Florin Marian Spătaru, to discuss common support solutions for the national defense industry.
Our discussion was based on the outlook provided by the implementation of the Army's critical endowment programs for the next 10 years.
The Ministry of National Defense is open to the maximum engagement of state and private economic agents operating in the defense sector in our country in the provision of competitive products and services for Defense.
We have established some directions for a serious partnership in the future, on some essential principles, with which we agree: the attempt to revitalize Romania's defense industry, not only because we have a pressing need for endowments for the Romanian army, but also because this industry is an important provider of jobs.
It is important that this industry be adapted to the needs of the Ministry of National Defense and to the new requirements of this industry, existing at the international level, so that the research-development component is a priority. Together with the Minister of Economy, Florin Marian Spătaru, we have established a form of continuous collaboration, a working group that will act so that our needs are perfectly adapted to the possibilities of the Romanian defense industry, both from the state and private sector.
It is a first step we are taking, at the level of the two ministries, to join forces for the development of competitive production and research and development capabilities. The common objective is to develop the defense industry in Romania so that we can ensure our strategic endowment needs through our own production capacities." A declared government official.
