Minister of Education: Last Minute Decisions, Fundamentally Changed Schools

The Minister of Education Last Minute Decisions Fundamentally Changed Schools

The Minister of Education has officially revealed a series of decisions that will bring fundamental changes to schools throughout Romania, which will be felt by the millions of students attending their courses, and below you can see how the framework plan for education will be modified.

The Minister of Education says that all these fundamental changes that the institution he leads are preparing, will be implemented starting from September 2023, a moment from which we should see many other major changes for the education system in Romania, according to the official.

"Things can only work in an integrated manner, it's for nothing that you have changes in form, if you don't have changes in content. The content changes mean, as I said from the first day of my mandate as minister, which was in December 2020, new framework plans for the high school, redone for the gymnasium, valid from September 2023.

They have been working for a long time on specialized working groups for the curriculum for each discipline, and for the framework plans for the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th high school grades. A complete cycle has been completed on the framework plan and the revised curriculum for the 1st cycle and gymnasium, from grade 1 to grade 8.

Unfortunately, the finding was that the objectives were not reached, for this reason the plans for primary and secondary education will also be revised. The textbooks will undergo changes from 2 perspectives, first of all when you have a new curriculum, a new content, obviously you also need new textbooks for school students.

Secondly, in September 2023, I like to think that this digitalization promotion system will already be implemented, and it will be enough to have electronic manuals. If they are available for all children, for all teachers, it means that we already have a very important thing, from these two perspectives they will undergo changes.

They must be adapted to the requirements for simplifying the curriculum, and to learn the skills that are correctly defined. The way to reach these competencies, it seems, was not the best at all, and the health crisis did not help us at all, on the contrary, it accentuated the problems we already had in the education system."
