The Minister of Education has officially confirmed a decision with changes that will be implemented in all schools in Romania, but also for the millions of students who follow their courses, if they are adopted, and they target the national strategy for the implementation of financial education.
The Minister of Education talks below about how the elements for national education will be introduced in the national curriculum, but also how teachers would be prepared to teach Romanian students everything they should know about financial education, which would be taught in the country's education system.
"This strategy proposes the development, or as the case may be, the introduction of financial education elements into the national curriculum, through specific methods, within all levels of education, taking into account. Choosing the most appropriate ways to achieve financial education, within formal education, by developing the already existing elements, or as the case may be, by introducing as a novelty the elements of financial education.
The development of already existing elements, or as the case may be, the introduction as a novelty of financial education elements can be achieved through monodisciplinary, transdisciplinary, multi- and interdisciplinary approaches or in a modular system. Defining specific skills, depending on the type of approach (monodisciplinary, transdisciplinary, multi and interdisciplinary or in a modular system) and taking into account the level/year of study for which they are proposed.
The success of financial education programs within the formal education system depends to a large extent on the quality of the didactic activity that is based on the professional training of teachers and on the resources available to support this activity. In this sense, through this strategy, it is proposed to develop programs that include
Professional training courses for teachers to increase the degree of awareness of the importance of financial education, the acquisition of modern pedagogical methods to be used in the didactic activity in the field of financial education.
Development of an online platform for teachers containing training course modules and teaching resources (financial education videos, games, etc.) appropriate to the financial education curriculum. The online platform will have an interactive component through which teachers can share teaching strategies as well as communicate with the administrators of the platform, but also with each other."
