Minister of Defence: Last Minute Official Message regarding the Romanian Army

Minister of Defense Last Minute Official Message Romanian Army

Today, the Minister of Defense sends an important official message regarding the Ground Forces of the Romanian Army, an extremely important component of the country's defense system, the Great Martyr Gheorghe being their spiritual patron.

The Minister of Defense talks below about the Land Forces of the Romanian Army, their importance in the country's defense system, but also the courage and devotion shown by them over time, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine.

"In the calendar of our military traditions, the Holy Great Martyr George, the Bearer of Victory, is the spiritual patron of the Romanian Land Forces, as a recognition of the dedication, courage and devotion of the soldiers who have activated, in the past, or are currently part of the units of this important category of the forces of our army.

My thoughts go, on this day, first of all to all those who have given their lives for the Country, throughout the ages, known or unknown. We are in the second day of the greatest Christian holiday, the Resurrection of the Lord. As Christ trampled death with death, giving the world the hope of eternal life, so our heroes entered into immortality by their ultimate sacrifice.

That is why we prayed on the Holy Night of the Resurrection for the souls of all our heroes and martyrs, fallen for the freedom and future of the Romanian nation. With a rich history, full of bright moments, but also of hard trials, past, with sacrifices and sufferings, but also with pride and glory, in the great battles in which they were engaged since the creation of the Romanian Army.

The Romanian Land Forces are, once again, facing a period full of challenges, in which the security of our region is severely tested by a conflict started in neighboring Ukraine. Seasoned in the multiple international missions, executed, in the last three decades in the theaters of operations carried out under the auspices of NATO, the UN or the EU on several continents in Europe, in the Western Balkans, in Asia, where they fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, in Africa.

In multiple peacekeeping missions, as well as in other large-scale multinational missions or exercises carried out abroad or at home, alongside the forces of the most advanced armies in the world, the soldiers of the Romanian Land Forces, from soldiers to generals, demonstrated day by day, by their results, that they are the most valuable resource of this category of forces and that they deserve the reputation of consummate professionals that they have built."
