Ministry of Defense: Latest Information on the Outbreak of the War in Romania

The Ministry of Defense, through its spokesperson, informs Romanians about one of the most important questions that many people have, more precisely whether the war in Ukraine will expand into Romania, and the categorical answer of the authorities is that this this will not happen.

The Ministry of Defense tells us that Romania is safe, being a NATO partner country, and the chances of the war spreading in Romania are extremely small, but the authorities are not relaxed, they are closely following everything that happens beyond the borders of our country.

"The answer is very simple (n. ed. to the question regarding the expansion of the war in Romania), the same questions were before the start of the invasion on a large scale, the same questions were justifiably asked at the beginning of the hostilities, and certainly the same questions will be placed even after the war ends, in one way or another.

We are prepared, I would say that we are part of the strongest political-military alliance that has ever existed on this planet. The wisdom of those who made this decision in the years 1990-2000 is what makes us now look to the future with more certainty. I would say that we have no reason to worry, but no reason to relax, to believe that nothing can happen.

Wherever it can happen, but we are part of the club that matters, of the club that respects the values, we are in a company that is very supportive, there are now 4.000 NATO soldiers who are deployed in Romania, and they did not come here to relax, we see moving from one military unit to another, to one training facility to another.

Last week we had a column of vehicles returning from a shooting exercise at the Mihail Kogalniceanu base, where they are deployed, and you remember the interpretations that said that a column of American military equipment was heading towards Ukraine. We will have such attempts, it is up to us to be wise, to check the information from official sources, credibility is key.

We have decisions, we have analyses, we have discussions that have been going on for a very long time, all that we are doing now, and I would say that our ministry, as well as those of other NATO countries, is not worried, but very attentive to what is happening over border. Ukraine is not alone, we are part of the community that supports Ukraine on all levels in the face of this aggression."
