Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca's meeting with EC Vice-President Vera Jourova

The Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciuca, had a meeting with the vice-president of the European Commission, Vera Jourova, to discuss the situation of the Romanian MCV, but also the implementation of the PNRR in our country.

Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă had a meeting today, at the Victoria Palace, with the vice-president of the European Commission for values ​​and transparency, Věra Jourová.

The discussions focused on the measures aimed at responding to the recommendations under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM), the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, but also on the situation in Ukraine and the multidimensional support provided by Romania.

The parties welcomed the progress in implementing the European Commission's recommendations under the MCV, recognizing the existence of a good time to advance reforms. Vice-President Jourová thanked the Romanian authorities and citizens for their commitment in managing Ukrainian refugees. He also recognized the important role of Romania in facilitating the transit of grain from Ukraine.

Prime Minister Ciucă expressed his political commitment to ensure the sustainability of judicial reforms and guarantee the independence of magistrates. He recalled that the Romanian Government's position is clear regarding the principle of the supremacy of European Union law and remains committed to its observance, within the limits conferred by the constitutional framework.

And he expressed the hope that the monitoring of compliance with the rule of law in Romania will soon be done only through the EU rule of law mechanism, as in the other member states of the Union.

Also, the Head of Government presented Romania's multidimensional commitment in support of Ukraine, recalling in particular the measures adopted to assist and integrate refugees, but also to facilitate grain exports.
