The Romanian Government Announces New Measures due to the Drought in Romania

The Romanian government announced today that it has established a set of measures for the country's territory due to the drought that is causing major problems in agriculture, and the new measures will be announced to local authorities this afternoon.

We will monitor across government the effects of the drought and intervene with quick solutions to protect the public and support farmers whose crops are affected.

The Ministry of Agriculture, coordinator of the interministerial committee for managing the effects of climate change in agriculture, will take into account the areas, regions and crops affected and, of course, the measures to reduce the effects of the drought.

The forecasts of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology for the next period highlight very high temperatures. For this reason, a crisis cell will operate at the level of the National Intervention Coordination and Management Center to monitor the effects of the heat wave.

Today we will have a meeting of the National Committee for Emergency Situations. We will transmit at the local level and to all government institutions a package of measures aimed at both monitoring the situation and measures to prevent the effects produced by high temperatures.

Together with the other line ministries, we will inform the population and collaborate with civil society to support people who need help.
The Department for Emergency Situations will coordinate the activity at the national level. We are preparing, at the government level, the necessary measures to protect citizens and intervene in support of the agricultural sector.
