The coronavirus remains very present in Romania during this period, yesterday record numbers were announced for the last months in our country, fulfilling the authorities' estimates which stated that there will be 10.000 new daily cases in August, only that everything is happening a bit more earlier than the Government officials expected.

The coronavirus spreads easily in Romania due to the lack of measures to prevent the spread, the positivity rate of the tests remaining around 30%, and if more daily tests are carried out, it is very possible that the number of new cases will continue to increase , without taking into account the introduction of any preventive measures.

The coronavirus is causing a lot of infections, including in many other European countries during this period, and this is because in most of Europe the measures to prevent the spread, i.e. wearing a mask in closed spaces, have been lifted, but things should change in the next period in several areas on the continent.

"In the last 24 hours, 9.802 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, with 2.551 less than the previous day. 1.900 of the new cases in 24 hours are of reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 279 people were reconfirmed positive.

In specialized health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 3.571, 126 more than the previous day. Also, 233 people are hospitalized at ATI, 18 more than the previous day. Of the 233 patients admitted to ATI, 198 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of admitted patients, 600 are minors, 594 being admitted to wards, 42 more than the previous day and 6 to ATI, the same as the previous day.

Until today, 65.923 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died. In the interval 26.07.2022 (10:00) – 27.07.2022 (10:00) 29 deaths (15 men and 14 women) were reported by the National Institute of Health, with no deaths reported before the reference interval.

In the last 24 hours, 5.840 RT-PCR tests were performed (3.457 based on case definition and medical protocol and 2.383 on request) and 24.134 rapid antigen tests. Until this date, at the national level, they have been processed
