WhatsApp is again making important changes in the application for iPhone and Android, and this in the conditions where we are talking about something that has been requested for years. You already know from a few weeks ago that it was decided to implement an additional protection function for logging in new phones, and this system is now extended.
WhatsApp wants to offer users around the world more security when it comes to protecting their accounts, so a new level of security will exist in the application. As you can see in the image below, when someone tries to log a phone number in a new device, the old one will receive an alert.
This alert will ask us to confirm that that account can be activated in the new device, or to refuse to allow this. WhatsApp implements a security system here to prevent the theft of accounts, and this is because many people have been tricked into giving hackers the opportunity to easily steal their accounts.
WhatsApp is aware of this, and knows that it cannot convince everyone to activate the 2-step authentication system, for example. Because people don't understand how to protect themselves more effectively against account theft, the American company is looking for ways to do this on its own now.
The alert you see is currently integrated in the application for Android, but it will also reach iPhone phones soon enough. In essence, it will give us total control over the possibility of logging an account in a new phone, the options listed within it being to allow, or not to allow, the actual logging of the account in another mobile phone.
WhatsApp knows that measures of this kind are extremely important, in the end, when it comes to protecting the accounts of people who use the platform. Of course, for now everything is only in the development process, without knowing when exactly the new functionality will be launched, but it is good that they are working on it, finally.
Many more important functions are currently in full preparation for launch within WhatsApp, but it remains to be seen when they will be finally available for all of us.
