Coronavirus Romania New Number of New Cases Registered August 6, 2022

The coronavirus continues to generate new cases of infection in Romania during this period, and this is due to the fact that there are no measures to prevent the spread in Romania, but also because the most recently discovered variants are much more contagious than the previous ones.

The coronavirus infects thousands of Romanians every day, unfortunately the number of those who are confirmed to have the infection remains high during this period, but continues to slightly decrease, which means that the pandemic has entered a plateau phase at the moment, the sign being a very good one.

At the moment, the number of people admitted to hospitals remains at a very low level, both in the normal and in the ATI wards, without there seeming to be any signs that things will change for the worse, so theoretically the number of new cases should decrease in the following period.

"In the last 24 hours, 6.441 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, with 1.324 less than the previous day. 1.221 of the new cases in 24 hours are of reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 297 people were reconfirmed positive.

In specialized health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 3.810, 293 less than the previous day. Also, 259 people are hospitalized at ATI, 1 more than the previous day. Of the 259 patients admitted to ATI, 225 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of admitted patients, 532 are minors, 529 being admitted to wards, 34 fewer than the previous day, and 3 to ATI, 1 less than the previous day.

Until today, 66.171 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 05.08.2022 (10:00) and 06.08.2022 (10:00) 28 deaths (21 men and 7 women) were reported by the INSP, with no deaths reported before the reference interval.

In the last 24 hours, 4.122 RT-PCR tests were performed (2.612 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1.510 on request) and 16.888 rapid antigen tests. Until this date, at the national level, they have been processed
13.340.970 RT-PCR tests and 10.866.420 rapid antigen tests.”
