The Ministry of Health Warns Romanians of Potassium Iodide Pills

The Ministry of Health decided to carry out an information campaign regarding the distribution of potassium iodide pills that had to be taken from family doctors, but now they can be taken from pharmacies, but only with a prescription issued by family doctors in Romania.

"The Ministry of Health - Romania is carrying out a national campaign to distribute potassium iodide 65 mg.

We remind you that potassium iodide is released only on the basis of a medical prescription, issued by the family doctor.

According to the recommendations in the product leaflet, potassium iodide is not recommended for people over 40 years of age, as they are less likely to benefit from potassium iodide treatment after exposure to radioactive iodine.

You can find the list of community pharmacies that distribute free potassium iodide tablets on the website.

Important Potassium iodide is administered ONLY in the event of a nuclear incident, as directed by the authorities."
