August 15, 2022 Updated Map of Ukrainian Territories Occupied by Russia

Ukraine continues to defend its territory, while trying to liberate other areas that fell under the occupation of the Russian army, and the map of August 15 with all the territories occupied by the Russians shows us how serious the situation is at the moment in the country, and based on the current problems, Volodymyr Zelenskiy is asking for even more help.

The Russians are fighting to maintain control over the important territories that have been occupied in Ukraine until now, but the Ukrainians are succeeding in limited offensives by which they liberate certain areas, but much more Western help is needed for the war to stop in soon.

“Russian and proxies from Ukraine are likely operating in approximately six force groups targeting the city of Kharkiv and northeastern Kharkiv region; along the Izyum-Slovyansk line; Siversk-Lysychansk area; Bahmut; Avdiivka-Donetsk city area; and southern Ukraine.

The city of Kharkiv and the Siversk-Lysychansk groups are probably built around cores drawn from the Western and Central Military Districts, respectively. The Izyum-Slovyansk axis is increasingly led by recently formed volunteer battalions, which probably have very low combat strength.

Soldiers of the private military company (PMC) of the Wagner group are in the lead around Bakhmut, while the forces of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) predominate in the Avdiivka-Donetsk city area. Troops from the Southern Military District (SMD) probably formed the initial core of the forces in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, but were reinforced with troops from the Eastern Military District, the Airborne Forces, and Rosgvardia.

None of these groupings are homogeneous – elements from different military districts, proxy forces, volunteer units and other formations are scattered across the theater.”
