DNSC, the National Cyber Security Directorate, is warning Romanians from all over the country about the theft of Instagram accounts, a problem that seems to be affecting people at this time, and this is because a phishing campaign is in full swing.
Instagram is very popular in Romania, and the people from DNSC give us a very clear example below of what exactly we should pay attention to when it comes to the ways in which we can protect our accounts on the Instagram social network against theft.
"Beware of sms, e-mails or messages received on social media from unknown sources or from short numbers, which ask to log into the Instagram account or reset the password, as seen in the attached image!
Do not provide other people with data related to authentication codes or such links to reset your password, as this may cause you to lose access to your account. There is a possibility that attackers can use Instagram's 'forgot my password' option to force a password change. If this message reaches you, it means that someone wants to steal your account.
Accessing the link from the mobile device on which you are logged into the Instagram application may result in losing access to the account, giving attackers the opportunity to change the password.
So avoid accessing links from unknown sources!
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) in your Instagram settings, as this extra layer of security can help reduce the chances of your account being compromised.
Keep a security solution installed on your device! Many times, an antivirus can save us from situations where carelessness could lead to account, data or system compromise.
