The Baltic States demand the creation of an International Tribunal for the Trial of War Crimes in Ukraine

The Baltic countries are asking the European Union to create a special tribunal to judge the war crimes that have been committed in Ukraine by the Russian army until now, and their request is not the only one, because many similar requests have been made by to other countries around the world.

Discussions about the creation of an international tribunal to try war crimes in Ukraine have been going on for some time, but it is currently quite unlikely that it will be created any time soon, even if the chances that it will be done at some point still remain quite high , as happened after the Second World War.

"Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania request the EU to establish a special court for Russian crimes. The foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania issued a joint statement on October 16 calling on the European Union and other international partners to help Ukraine create a special tribunal to prosecute Russia's political and military leadership.

"As Russia's brutal assault against Ukraine continues, the EU must act to ensure that the pursuit of justice and accountability for Russia's horrific crimes in Ukraine is at the heart of our policy," the statement said.
