Huawei: Sanctions give major headaches to some Telecom Operators in Europe

Huawei Big Sanctions Hit Telecom Operators Europe

Huawei, one of the largest IT companies in the whole world, remains the target of sanctions in Europe, but also in other large countries outside the continent, but what was wanted was a quick removal of its telecommunications equipment from some countries, it turns out to be more difficult than one would have thought. Telecommunications operators in Great Britain have been set by the country's government a deadline of 2 years to remove Huawei telecommunications equipment from their own networks.

Huawei opposed this decision, attacked it in court, failed to remove it, and its term was supposed to expire in January 2023, but the London government decided to extend it for almost another year days. The decision was taken because the telecommunications operators have not replaced all the Huawei equipment they use, and in the absence of an extension of the deadline, they would have been unable to provide services to customers.

Huawei: Sanctions give major headaches to some Telecom Operators in Europe

Huawei has sold a lot of 5G equipment to dozens of telecommunications companies in the UK, and removing all of them is not easy, with operators having to remove all such equipment used in the main data transfer networks. In the case of adjacent networks, 35% of all equipment used may be Huawei's, but by 2027 they must be completely removed from UK telecommunications networks.

Huawei sold a lot of 5G equipment in many countries in Europe, and not only, and in all of them it was decided that they should be eliminated for fear of espionage by China, in Romania some operators completely blocking investments in their own networks. Of course, the removal of all these equipment from all networks will not be easy, but even so, an attempt is being made to "cleanse" the telecommunications networks in Europe of as many Huawei equipment as possible during this period, although it is clear that it will not be easy.

Huawei continues to fight against these decisions made by many governments around the world, but it is not very successful, especially since there is solidarity between countries regarding the decisions that are made.
