Minister of Education: LAST TIME, Measures of National Importance for Schools and Students in Romania

The Minister of Education LAST MINUTE Measures of National Importance Schools Students Romania

The Minister of Education has officially confirmed the adoption of an Emergency Ordinance which brings a series of last-minute measures intended to impose changes of national importance for schools throughout Romania, implicitly also for students, they aim at changes in the salaries of teachers who teach in the units of education.

The Minister of Education talks below about the measures that an Emergency Ordinance adopted last week will bring for educational units in Romania, and as you can see below, we are talking about decisions that will definitely be to the liking of many teachers in Romania .

"Also today, the Memorandum was approved for the occupation of expert positions outside the organizational chart of the Ministry of Education and public institutions subordinate to it, related to projects financed from the European Social Fund, as well as vacant positions related to the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Through this approach, we aim to unblock the situation created by the lack of staff and the normal development, under optimal conditions, of the activities of the projects under implementation. I mention the fact that the positions will be put out to competition between September 2022 and December 31, 2022 and do not involve additional budget allocations. I make a call in this way for interested people, with expertise in the field, to participate in these contests.

Regarding the subject of the draft laws on education, I discussed today with the Prime Minister of Romania and we agreed on a more flexible deadline of approximately two more weeks. It is very important to carefully go through all the amendments that have come, not a few, there are more than 9.000, but at the same time to pay due attention to the representatives of the actors in education who, obviously, after taking over the mandate, wanted meetings in which to underline what their priorities are in the perspective of future education laws.

This is the commitment in the legislative text, which I took over. Of course, the entire budgetary impact of the draft laws will be re-discussed in the Government and will also be agreed upon in the governing coalition. That's what I want and that's how I think it should be and the Ministry of Education will make every effort to significantly increase the remuneration of teachers in society. Teachers must certainly expect changes on a number of levels.

We will agree together with the Ministry of Finance and, obviously, together with the entire Government, when the wage increases will come into force. I haven't gotten to that topic yet. I discussed. Of course, discussions on the budget law are ongoing. However, I have specified very clearly that when the new law takes effect, there will obviously be a need for additions according to the provisions agreed in the new laws."
