The Romanian Government Talks about NATO Resilience in Full WAR in Ukraine!

The Romanian government talks about NATO's resilience in a very complicated period for the security of the European region, one that is threatened by the war between Ukraine and Russia, but the alliance is constantly prepared to defend the territories of the countries that are part of it.

Resilience is one of the most versatile and complex concepts facing NATO. At a time when our security environment has become increasingly complex and threatening, with worrying dynamics in terms of the evolution and nature of the threat, increasing resilience to improve our responsiveness and resilience is a central element of the activity of the North Atlantic Alliance.

In recent years, this concept has gained more visibility and traction within NATO. It has evolved from energy and climate change to crisis management and hybrid threat response, spanning a wide range of settings from societal to national and transnational.

The key principle is that national and collective resilience is an essential foundation for credible deterrence and defence, and for the effective delivery of the Alliance's core tasks. We consider it vital in efforts to protect allied societies, populations and shared values.

In the face of this unprecedented threat, NATO responded promptly and appropriately, through a multi-level approach, aiming to strengthen its own resilience. Our organization has done this by enhancing the Alliance's deterrence and defense posture, providing assistance to partners in strengthening their resilience, as well as a full-spectrum response to all future threats and challenges, including cyber, hybrid, energy, CBRN, disinformation.

Romania adapted to these needs to counter numerous hybrid threats, not only by elaborating, last year, a National Recovery and Resilience Plan, but also by establishing new institutions and infrastructure to face these challenges.
