Minister of Defense: LAST-HOUR announcements, broadcast to millions of Romanians

The Minister of Defense Last Minute Announcements Transmits Millions of Romanians

The Minister of Defense is speaking to the Romanians from all over the country at the moment through two very important announcements that he made, and this is because in the first of them he is speaking to the people about all those soldiers of the Romanian Army who on the National Day of Romania are in international missions, of various types.

The Minister of Defense talks about almost 500 Romanian soldiers who are on missions in various corners of the world at the moment, but at the same time also sends a special message for Romania's National Day, one that no one should ignore at the moment, considering its importance.

"Our thoughts go out, with gratitude and respect, to the military who celebrate Romania's National Day in international missions, representing the country with pride, honor and professionalism. We wish those who are far from home, but with their hearts at home, to enjoy this holy day, to succeed in everything they do and to return healthy and with a sense of duty fulfilled to their loved ones.

Together with the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Daniel Petrescu, I talked today, via videoconference, with the command teams of the structures deployed in external missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Poland. The military informed us about the way they carry out their missions and the security situation in their areas of responsibility, stating that they are with the Romanian citizens who will celebrate, on December 1, the National Day.

I thanked the military for the way they collaborate with colleagues from other allied and partner countries and appreciated that Romania has unprecedented security guarantees. The war in Ukraine tested NATO's vigilance, cohesion, solidarity and determination to honor its commitments, to ensure the security and integrity of the Euro-Atlantic space.

Immediately after the start of the Russian invasion in Ukraine, NATO promptly activated, for the first time in history, the defense plans, deploying forces and combat equipment on the territory of the allied countries on the eastern flank, including Romania. National Day will find approximately 480 Romanian soldiers in foreign missions and operations under the command or mandate of NATO, the EU, the UN and coalition missions.

The Great Union was achieved not only through the fruition of the international political context, which favored national and social liberation movements, but also, above all, through the courage, heroism and blood sacrifice of Romanian soldiers and officers on the battlefields of the First World War and the determination shown by the Romanian political class and the Romanian society in the foreign territories, temporarily occupied."
