The Minister of Education transmits in a last-minute announcement one of the very important measures that were taken, and this because during this day he was one of those who participated in the international debates regarding the integration of climate education in the educational systems .

The Minister of Education talks below about the way these discussions went, but also about the initiatives that Romania has in terms of climate education, separately from this officially announcing the fact that the Romanian AI was included by UNESCO in his heritage from now on.

"Today, December 1, 2022, Ligia Deca, the Minister of Education, participated in the XNUMXth edition of the European Education Summit, organized in a hybrid format by the European Commission. This year's edition was held under the theme "Bright Young Minds" and brought together decision-makers from the European Union and government officials from the member states of the European Union, teachers, as well as representatives of the business environment and NGOs uri.

The Romanian Minister of Education participated in the debates organized within the high-level panel "Education for the climate: promoting changes to ensure environmental sustainability". In his intervention, the Romanian dignitary specified: "Romania is among the countries that have included green skills in the basic framework of skills for primary and lower secondary education.

At the same time, the concepts of sustainable development, circular economy and environmental protection are incorporated into the compulsory and optional programs". At the same time, Minister Deca also emphasized: "We must take care to promote knowledge, understanding and critical thinking, the development of practical skills, empathy, solidarity and care for nature. In this way, the major principle of learning for environmental sustainability is gradually incorporated in the classroom, in the curriculum, in the teaching practices, in the school infrastructure”.

During the discussions, two important Romanian initiatives for promoting sustainability and environmental education were presented: Green Week and the establishment of the network of green schools, funded by PNRR. More precisely, it is about 425 million euros for the rehabilitation and energy efficiency of 150 schools, the construction of at least 50 new schools and the purchase of 3200 school minibuses to ensure the transport of students from isolated areas or who live at a great distance from the school.
