Russia has made a very important decision regarding the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, and this is because despite the very important requests that have been coming at the international level, the country refuses to cede control over this extremely important strategic objective at the moment.
Russia maintains control over the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in order to put pressure on the international community, but also to substantially reduce the level of electricity supplied to Ukraine at the moment, another weapon used in the war with the Ukrainians.
"Russia will not relinquish control over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to create a nuclear safe zone. "Russia's withdrawal from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant or the transfer of control over it to a 'third party' is out of the question," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on December 5.
The director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said on December 2 that he hopes to reach an agreement with Russia and Ukraine on protecting the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, currently occupied by Moscow troops, by the end of this year."
