Minister of Defense Official Announcement LAST TIME Targets Millions of Romanians Country

The Minister of Defense sends Romanians an important last-minute announcement by which he brings to their immediate attention one of the measures that will have a major impact on the Romanian Army in the course of 2023, and this is because 2.5% of Romania's GDP is allocated to defense , being the highest in the last 5 years.

The Minister of Defense presented the Romanian Government's plan within the defense committees of the Romanian Parliament, and we are talking about getting closer to fulfilling the obligations that our country has vis-à-vis NATO in terms of the part of the national budget that is allocated for defense.

"I presented to my fellow parliamentarians from the assembled defense committees the priorities that the ministry I lead has for 2023. Starting January 1, the Ministry of Defense will have a budget of 2,5% of GDP allocated, the highest in recent years, which will allow us to fulfill the endowment programs we have undertaken, with a view to strengthening the national defense capability and, at the same time, to contribute to the strengthening of NATO's eastern flank, especially in the Black Sea region.

The strategic objective of the defense policy for the period 2023-2026 is the modernization and adaptation of the Romanian Army to the specific risks and challenges of the current geopolitical context, as well as the consolidation of Romania's strategic profile at the level of NATO, the EU and within the Partnership with the USA.

I thank my fellow parliamentarians who understood that the Romanian Army needs this budget, which is essential for the continuation of the endowment programs with state-of-the-art technologies, but also to achieve the higher level of training that we proposed, and they approved unanimously , the draft budget of the ministry."
